WHITE DEER / BIRDS IN FLIGHT

WHITE DEER. A good friend in Tucson sent me this -- a news report from northern Wisconsin on a rare herd of white white-tailed deer. Beautiful.

BIRDS IN FLIGHT. Biologists at the University of Montana Flight Laboratory are trying to understand why birds are able to fly maneuvers which put the most sophisticated human flying machines to shame. Using high-speed cameras, wind tunnels and CT scans, researchers are closing in on a deeper understanding of "how complex flight is and how many different things are happening when a bird flies." Here is the NYTimes article describing the project. Again, beautiful.
